Understanding Vertiq Thrust Data
Vertiq’s thrust data is formatted a bit differently than that of most other motor manufacturers. There are two aspects of our data that can be explained by our modules’ unique configurability and controllability.
Thrust Testing
To provide Vertiq’s partners and those interested in our propulsion modules with the most relevant data possible, we conduct and publish thorough thrust testing data using many different third-party propellers. Here is a detailed description of our procedure.
Add-Ons to Increase IP Rating
Vertiq has designed its next generation of modules to accommodate Add-Ons to meet customer needs. One of Vertiq's goals for these modules is ensuring the system is able to handle a variety of environmental factors, such as sand, dust, and water. With these Add-Ons, the max IP rating of Vertiq’s next generation modules is IP45.
Lifetime Test Procedure
Vertiq’s lifetime test seeks to determine the life expectancy of its modules under realistic operating conditions.
DroneCAN Support
Vertiq provides all support documentation on their website, including how to use DroneCAN (previously known as UAVCANv0) to integrate a Vertiq module with a PX4 flight controller.
Vertiq Joins Drone Radio Show
Host Randy Goers interviews Jon Broome, Vertiq CEO and Co-Founder to talk about developing high performance motors for drone propulsion.
Good Things Come in Small Packages
One of the differentiators of Vertiq technology from competitors is the integrated electronic speed controller (ESC). This enables a wide range of performance benefits and unique control capabilities, but in this post, we are specifically focusing on Vertiq’s products’ physical attributes, compared to their closest competitive motor and ESC package
VERTIQ IS AWARDED AN AFWERX PHASE 1 CONTRACT
AFWERX is a technology acceleration directorate within the U.S. Air Force and its SBIR program enables small businesses to explore their technological potential by providing incentives for the commercialization of novel technologies.
Use Case: Increasing Mission Time for Offshore Traveling
Vertiq technology increases propulsion efficiency by 10%, made possible by the innovative control method, Field Estimated Control (FEC). This 10% increase in efficiency would increase Total Mission Time by 5 minutes (to 55 minutes).
Use Case: Increasing Delivery Range
Vertiq can increase your delivery radius by 15% and delivery area by 32%.
FAA Type Certification for Drones
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) certifies products such as crewed aircrafts and drones that show compliance with the FAA’s airworthiness standards, as well as environmental standards like emissions and noise
Use Case: Minimizing Drone-in-a-Box Solutions
Presenting our Use Case series. One of the benefits of Vertiq’s technology is that our position sensor allows us to precisely position propellers in-flight and upon landing.
History Series: The TDN-1 Assault Drone
Following the development of the Curtiss Fledgling, The Naval Aircraft Factory designed the TDN-1 assault drone (an evolution of the RC Curtiss Fledgling) that was capable of carrying a 1,000 pound bomb.
Our Rebrand
Motor Commutation: FOC vs. FEC
Vertiq uses FEC, we are committed to making FEC meet or exceed all FOC performance numbers.
History Series: First Mass Produced UAV
Around the same time as the development of the Curtiss Fledgling, Walter Righter designed the OQ-2, another small radio-controlled aircraft.
